New to forum and new to adult model building
Posted by ChrisSC on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 10:17 PM

Hi. I have not built a model in decades. Due to having some physical limitations temporarily due to two recent surgeries I found myself with the time to take an interest in what I guess would be called a hobby. As a youngster I did build many models but as I'm sure as many have at that time in life they weren't very well put together. Mostly 1/25 AMT cars and some ships and planes.

A friend of mine had started a Tamiya 1/350 Missouri many years ago and had gotten about half way through with it and gave it to me when he moved. I took it and it sat untouched for many years untill a few weeks ago when I came home from the hospital and decided to dust it off and complete it. I had my first experiance with photo etch and finished it up just to get my feet wet.

I enjoyed completing it and found I wanted to continue with another. When younger I was an ocean liner fan so I now purchased a Minicraft 1/350 Titanic which I am working on currently. Aside from liners I am also a fan of battleships. I am still adjusting to working with photo etch and wood decks. I purchased a bunch of tools/supplies and am attempting to improve my skill level. I am also wanting to purchase a 1/350 Lusitania. I am going slowly and trying to gradually become better at all aspects of putting these together.

I'm not ready to tackle it yet but I did today receive a Trumpeter 1/200 Titanic. That will sit in it's box until I feel confident enough in my skills to attempt it. That's about it but I certainly do feel hooked on giving this a good go as I enjoy it and am surprised at all the new accessories that are available now as compared to when I was younger. My patience and understanding of what's required to build these somewhat properly has also improved with age.

I'm sure I won't be able to contribute answers to questions here as a novice but I certainly will have a lot of questions. Hopefully that is something the experianced forum members won't mind too much. Thanks for the add to your community.
