I second Jim's advice to ask in the Autos forum about making a model car look like it's been in an accident-deliberately, that is. When I build a car, it winds up like that without intending it
And junkyard dioramas are very popular, too.
Though I suspect that many of the techniques to get that result apply to other genres, like damaged aircraft, armor, ships, etc. So they'll serve you well for any subject.
