Sorry tankboy51, I should have been clearer, I didn't mean that they were truly unheard of but that in the area I was in, the hobbyshops carried some horrific ones that used canned air but man what you could do with the nice ones and the $300 compressor that I made my wife giggle Maniacly when I asked ger for permission like a good boy. Now I have 3 of them as well as a tanked compressor and use it religiously. Thank you for the welcome

Welcome. Same story here. I too have went the route of a resin 3d printer, have started designing some of my own parts, am learning resin casting and aluminum machining now as well. All after only 7 months or so of being back in the hobby. I guess you could say I have found my true passion, or maybe just nuts! Either way good to have you!

In the 80's and 90's airbrushes were virtually unheard of??    Not really.  I've been using them since the very early  1970's,  but others have been for decades earlier.  Expensive, yes, but just a good tool to have and master.  They are not that hard to use, and the results can make modeling a joy.  Some folks are good at hand painting, not me, I'm lazy.  Welcome back!

Welcome aboardYes

I can relate I'm just back into modeling (6 months) after 35+ years and have more paints, supplies and kits than I probably need but hey you only live once.

The airbrush is a fantastic tool that wasn't available to me years ago.

Hello, Rickamoss - sorry, I missed your post earlier - welcome!  Many of us here (me included) are "returned" modellers, coming back to the fold when the business of life allows.  When I came back to the hobby, about two and a half years ago, I was astonished at how things have changed since my modelling heydays in the 70s & 80s, but just dived in - and it's great!  Hope to see some of your builds soonSmile

Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

Like most I built models as a kid, pretty much everything I could spend money on. Then I started raising kids and priorities changed and I fell out of the sport. Now I'm back into more than ever before and good Lord things have changed and improved for us. I was doing this back in the 80's and wee early 90's and airbrushes were virtually unheard of. Now I have airbrushes, more paints than I ever owned before, a resin printer, and filament printer. No idea how to use anything really but I'm having fun. I still build everything, planes, ships, armor (New to me), but mostly 4 x 4's, and modifying them, suping up the engines, lift kits and the like. So thats me. Thanks for reading.
