I started building in 1946 (6 years old) and never quit. My favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships but I will tackle anything that looks good to me at the time and my wallet says OK.

You've come to the right place. If you have any questions/problems just ask. That's what we're here for.

Welcome back to the hobby!  We're close in age and I also fondly remember those Aurora kits of our youth.  Sadly, I'm still filling & sanding away with some old Lindberg kits.(sometimes they're the ONLY show in town).  Is your son presently serving aboard a vessel?  You'll enjoy this forum immensely because of all of the assistance these modelers can give to you.

I have more of a nostalgic view of Lindberg kits.  I've got a stash of Lindberg's F11C Goshawks, because I wanted to build them, and like someone else said, sometimes Lindberg was the only game in town.  A couple of weeks ago, I picked up an old, old Lindberg Paige Knight Twister sport biplane, just because it looks cool.  I'll finish it as a what-if build, in Navy test livery.

      I hope you don't mind me shortening your name. I am a whisky and brandy connossiuer of sorts. Never could get a Good Cigar so never developed the taste. Now as to models, yup, it was Aurora or Lindberg. Very rarely a Gifted Revell kit. Early on it was Planes and Armor, then I shifted my focus to anything that floated under Sail or Power and Never looked back.

      My "Holy Grail" kit was the German Raider "Atlantis" That seemed to always evade my grasp. Oh well. Glad to have you here. Comments about your builds and the Hobby will always be welcome to these ears. Tanker-Builder

I started building when I was five, baclk in 1957 and still remember the old solid wing models of things like the ME-109 that was molded in a dark green metallic with the markings molded in.  I'm searching for the Lindberg XF-90 and the Thundercepter.

I did some of the old wooden aircraft models like th B-24 where you had to put a weignt into the fuselage, add the plug, and then seal it and sand it smooth with the entire kit.
