Hi,
Been awhile since I did the forum thing...
I'm getting ready for my second retirement in July. I am so looking forward to hobby time I won't have to steal!
I really like RC vehicles but they never have enough detail to suite me. Some years ago I bought a Torro 1/16 RC Halftrack, a Trumpeter static model of the same, and set about combining them. That project remains unfinished (for numerous reasons), but the idea stuck. The sucessor (planed for this winter) is a Rochobby 1/6 scale 1942 MB Jeep. "Up- detailed" with a 1/6 scale Dragon SAS "Desert Raider" static model kit.
It is questions about paint & painting that lead me here...
My model will be anything but static. I've been reasearching what to use as a basecoat. Looking for someting hard enough to cover the various colors of plastic (from all but the deepest scratches) I'm old scool so I know enamels, but I still want the finised product to appear somewhat used (so many more options for acrylics). I plan to add some dings and a bullet hole or two before I start painting, then take advanged of actual wear & tear for aditional weathering. The rust I'll have to apply. the mud will be real!
Thx
Joel
