Pursuing the modelling hobby again
Posted by larhon on Saturday, April 15, 2023 10:52 AM

I have now started building model kits again, after decades, and if memory serves, it was in my teens and I wasn't very patient at the craft. Now I find myself with more time and am attempting a simple beginner kit to bring myself back into it. It feels both easy and hard. I'll have questions and hopefully others will have answers.

Welcome back. I returned about 10 years ago after an on again, off again hiatus. Things certainly have changed but I'm impressed with the number of kits being released and re-released lately. It's a fun, relaxing hobby. Best advice-start small, simple and build for the way you want it to be.

Welcome back to the hobby, Larhon, and welcome to the forum!

Most of us have traveled the same path.

If you're looking for a simple build, you might consider reaching back to the kits that were available when you were a kid.  I still build Monogram airplane kits that I had when I was a kid in the Seventies, for example.

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,

Brad

Welcome back, like you, I am just starting modeling and I am sure that I will be asking a lot of questions, and seeking advice and modeling techniques.

Welcome back! I too came back after a long break. I find it much more enjoyable, and I amlso better at managing my time and patience.

Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. I believe I'm starting with an easy 1/25 AMT Chevelle kit and I am slowly painting my way through it. Early U.S. muscle cars are fun and I'd be really happy if there were some decent Australian model kits, but alas, it doesn't appear so.
