Greetings Everyone
Posted by Shoop on Monday, July 24, 2023 7:56 AM

Thanks for having me on board. I have been building models since my early teen years and of course stopped for quite some time as work and family entered the picture. As a teen I mainly built armor and WWII aircraft with a few autos thrown in. I sure wish I had all those models that fell victim to firecrackers, BB gun and the trash unfortunately. Started building 1/24 1/25 cars about 10 years ago, mostly muscle cars and drag racers. Now I have retired and am getting back into the planes, building up a small stash already. Been lurking here for a while and finally decided to sign up.

Hi, Keith, good to have you join us, you're welcome here. You'll find a wealth of very talented model builders, and see the quality work they turn out. Wish I could be one of them, but all I seem able to do is spread glue around on plastic, or furniture.

Hi Keith! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

Been building models for a long time. Started learning a lot from the members here. They are very knowledgeable and ready to help with any questions/problems.

My main builds are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships.

Stay safe.

Welcome aboard.  Love go see some of your builds.  I build about 30% cars 70% planes, but the cars are race, muscle, drag mostly.

Thanks,

John

Welcome back to the world of spruefruit and glue.

 Yeah....firecrackers, BB guns.

Well, back in the late 50's when I was an 8 year old genius I attached a bottle rocket below and slightly behind the wing root of a 10 cent balsa glider.

(Now they are $3 and up plus any shipping)

Guillow Balsa Glider And Airplane Assortment Ages 6 And Up on sale, sporting supplies at low price — LIfe and Home

From a coke bottle, it took off at a 45 degree angle like a rocket     .....and about 10 seconds later it crashed.

The entire fuselage  toasted from the wing on back .

Oh siçtik.....

Yep, that was all of my allowance for that week.

I always wondered how it would have turned out if I had wrapped a piece of tinfoil behind the exhaust.
