Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to the forum, Mark!

As to whether the Trumpeter Titanic is too much for a new modeler or not, well, any kit can be too much for any modeler, from an old Lindberg TBF to a Dragon 1/35 AFV with a thousand individual track links. Or it could be a pleasure.  Take your time, read the instructions, test-fit, and enjoy the hobby! That's the most important thing.  I look forward to seeing that build when you've finished.

Ditto to what Baron said above. I've been building models for 77 of my 83 years and I'm still learning new ways to build and finish models. The members are very knowledgeable and ready to help with questions/problems. Don't be afraid to ask for help. That's what we're here for.

Admins....you may have noticed I have two threads in the Intro forum. My bad. After posting the first thread (this one) I didn't read the message about the 24 hour timeline for approval. Therefore, I thought this first post had timed out and never actually went through. Therefore, I wrote a second post. After that was when I took the time to read the message. My apologies. Go ahead and delete the second thread.

"Hello. Just getting my feet wet here. I recently finished an Academy 1/400 RMS Titanic. Started it in November and just finished it mid January. It’s my first model in 50+ years. I’m 62 now, so my last model would have been when I was 11 or 12 years old. I’m hooked. The 1/400 Titanic went ok, but I, and Academy, could have done better. Therefore, my next project is going to be a Trumpeter 1/200 RMS Titanic. Yup, going big. I’m still in the planning stages for that and still waiting for some items to arrive, but I’ll be starting it soon. Too much for someone who is essentially a beginner? Perhaps, but I’m willing to take it slow and looking forward to learning. I figure it will take a good 3 years, at least.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good 3rd party site for posting pictures? Is Post Image considered safe? I used to have a Photobucket account that I used for Aquarium Forums years ago, but they started charging $ and I wasn't using it anymore, so I let it lapse.

Welcome to the FSM forums! No need to apologize for the duplicate thread. Duplicate posts happen a lot! We try to moderate posts within 24 hours, but it may take longer if you post on a weekend.

In response to your question of where you should post your build, if you are referring to the Academy 1/400 RMS Titanic that you mentioned in your original post, yes, go ahead and start a thread in the Ships section of the forum!

The Academy 1/400 Titanic is the completed one. It's the Trumpeter 1/200 I'm just starting.

 First: Welcome to the forums! Second: You shouldn't have to many problems. I built mine probably twelve years ago. I can't say I remember any problems. Watch the diagrams in the instructions though.

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused on what a Build Thread is on this Community Board. Is it for model starts and in progress....or for completed builds?

I'll try to answer a couple of your questions.

Postimage is a good site for photo hosting.  Several people use it.  Also Google Drive is used by a few.  I use Flickr, though its a bit confusing to use and only allows a certain number of images to be hosted (though there's ways around that).

About build threads, it's a general term.  Your Titanic model will go under "Ships", where you can start a "Topic" thread.  You should see a blurb under the "Ships" topic for "Create a New Discussion Topic".  This would be what is called a build thread.  Try to indicate in the Title what the model is, scale, manufacturer and that it is either a work in progress or you are merely showing the finished build.

I hope that will be of some use.

Build threads can be helpful if you want to learn about a particular kit and possible pitfalls in construction.If you do your own just don't get discouraged if you get hundreds maybe thousands of views,with very few comments,
