Greetings Y'all...
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 15, 2004 10:01 AM
from the state of Oklahoma. I have been hooked on Star Trek DS9 since Spike TV started showing it and it put in the mood to build some models. I went searching the internet for one certain model when I found this site and thought it looked like a great place for getting help if I ever actually do get the model. Btw, if anyone knows where I can find a DS9 station model with the fiber-optic lighting system for no more than $45 shipped I would appreciate any help. I am fairly new to models as I haven't built one in years and I've only built 1 or 2 in my life but I was looking for a big challenge. Hopefully I won't be biting off more than I can chew with this model though. Anyway, looking for to chatting with you all and expect cries for help if I ever do get this model.

That's alright. Surely with nearly 41 thousand members one of them will be able to help me.

Welcome to the FSM Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome]. Can't help with your question, but someone will come to the rescue. Might be a good idea to post it again on the Sci-Fi Forum.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I don't even have any models yet but I already love being here and can't stay away from the site for long. Big Smile [:D]

Btw, forget about that DS9/fiber-optic station model. After finding out more of what goes into modeling it's too much for me.

some parts of it are hard... but if you start out slow, and get kits that aren't high skilll levels and such you'll grow into it... (I'm still growing with each build) If you haven't built much, pick a subject you like.... maybe ask around for an easier kit to build and try it out.... then work your way up. If I had started out with an Accurate Miniatures plane kit, or even some of the Tamiya ones I probably wouldn't be here today... frustration used to be my worst enemy... it would make me put a kit aside maybe to never pick it up again... now years later and especially since I started on here it's something to work around, or to work with and make it better!

Enjoy!!!!

Hi, welcome to FSM Forum!
Sometimes it´s dificult to find a specific mather, so buit it!
Try to look at the Jan 1999 issue.
There is a text of the AMT/ Ertl´s USS Defiant (kit nº 8255). “Lighting Star Trek´s Defiant – Bringing AMT/ Ertl´s DS9 defender to life”
Cheers.

I am not subscribed to it so I don't know if I can look at older issues or not.
Thanks for the reference though.
