Expanding My Horizons.
Now that's a trick seeing as how I live in Regina Saskatchewan.
I'm a modeler. I use to think I was just a model train guy, but I find more fun in building the things than the running of the trains themselves. Now don't get me wrong. I'm nuts about train modeling, but through joining this site I'm finding all sorts of old nerves coming to life.
Tonight I bought my first aircraft model.
It's a Revell Spitfire Mk 2 and I can't wait to blow some paint on it. It's been 36 years since I bought and built an aircraft model. It was a sad effort. Wound up looking like a big silver turd. I had a friend, Lee, at the time who's dad flew in WW2 and helped Lee build a whole fleet of real fine aircraft models. Lee and his dad had a big HO train layout as well. We were good friends until one day I sat on his B-17 model and crushed it. We were still friends after that, but he never let me near his models again.
I found modeling cars was more for me and I built car models and dioramas until I was 27.
So now here I am, on the flats, and I'm doin' the modeling thing again. I'm going to get me a car model or 2 and I would like to get some of those Polar Lights monster kits too. I got plans for a radio controled boat. I built new bodys for my R/C monster trucks a while back too.
I actually got back into modeling about 6 years ago when I built a Curtis biplane from scratch. I got me some pix of the plane Curtis flew at the first LA air show and built me a rubber band powered model in about 1/24 scale. It crashed real good.
No, actually it still hangs from my ceiling and soon will be joined by the Spitfire.
Oh yea, I am a professional clown, and I love trains. So that's where TrainClown comes from.
I'm also a puppeteer.
The joy is in the building.
