Never been to Brownie's. Living in Queens, I usually head out to Willis Hobbies in Mineola. But I will definitely take a trip to SI. Thanks for the tip.

Al

PS Hobby Squirrel was as Waikong described the one time I visited there, which was maybe a year ago.

Brownie's on Staten Island is a complete hobby store. Static and RC kits of all kinds. Paints, glues, and specialties like evergreen styrene stock, brass, dremel tools etc. It's one of my favorite places:-)

Barnstormer,
About Hobby Squirrel, I was there 2 years ago, and unfortunately you may be disappointed. Its an office really, and a small one at that. He has lots of catalogs and a small selection of models. The guy was very nice and obviously into models and can order anything for you, but kind of defeats the purpose of a store doesn't it? Maybe he's grown a bit by now, I hope so, let me know what they are like now if you do, thanks.

The TrainsStore on 45th, almost forgot about that store - talk about organized mayhem! But I guess we kinda hijacked this thread from Vartan041 into a NYC hobby thread! Sorry about that.

To alenam & waikong, thank you for your greetings.

I too get kits & supplies from Jans Hobby Shop.
I used to go to the Train Shop/Plane Shop on West 45 St when I worked near Times Sq. and prior to that, Ace Hobbies on W. 31 St. - unsure about the current status of either of the latter shops.Confused [%-)]

I am interested in checking out Hobby Squirrel, 234 5th Ave if only for the fun name.

Hey, your post is bringout out all the New Yorkers on the Forum. Welcome and to all the other new yorkers too.

As for Hobby shops, not too many choices right? There's Jans on Upper East side Lex, Village Comics in the Village, Brownies on Staten Island, and Rudy's in Astoria Queens, there was a place in ChinaTown, - haven't been there in ages and don't konw if they are stil there.

Greetings to all my fellow model maniacs (just how many kits are piled up in your closet) I tend to work on armor, but I also likr to do aircraft and autos to shake things up in order to avoid a rut.
