hmm I didn't notice the dio! I need to lok better next time! I was there about a month ago... mostly I save my visits for a big load because of the distance, Iive up around Humble so it's about an hour maybe a little less to get there...

I dunno if I coud work in a hobby shop.. yeah I'd learn a lot... but I'd spend my paycheck every month in models..

QUOTE: Welcome!!! What area of Houston are ya in? I'm outside city limits on the far NE side near Humble... if you haven't run into it yet, Hobby Island down on Richmond is the end-all of Hobby shops in the area!!! Just found it recently and I am HOOKED!!!

Great to see more locals here!!!

Well I did not want to say it first but, YES I LOVE HOBBY ISLAND. Now that I no longer work there I guess I can say that...? Working there really helped make me a better modeler. Everyday, people come in and they have a new trick or something and after a while you start to pick it up. That’s what I like about this forum, it's the same thing. I live in Spring on the North side, when was the last time you were in there? You know he has that Shep Paine Dio in there, the one with the two pilots on the wing of the floating Dauntless.(spelchekWink [;)]). Anyway, I plan to start going to the Armor meetings; they used to be on Thursday nights. I still work nights but I go in at 10p.m. so now I can make the meetings. Well cool, just a few minutes ago I was just talking about the shop but I left the name out because I know the owner and I used to work there.

Hello,
I just noticed the site has a "Introduce Yourself" thing. So, here we go. I joined in December 04 and am now Introducing myself.

I started building armor models when I was 10 years old, I'm 30 now. My father loved train layouts and I loved crashing up the little towns. So I guess the next step was dioramas...I started doing dio's when I was 15 years old, and they are my favorate. I love building anything, but mostly armor dio's. I live in Houston TX. and remember going to the train store with my dad. One day while at the store a guy brought in a Vietnam Dio. I was blown away, I staired at it for at least 2 hours. Like me now, my father could spend half the day at the LHS. The guy that brought the dio in also worked there, I remember asking him some questions and he did not want to be bothered. So I am very proud to be a part of this exchange of ideas and techniques. And I would like to thank FSM for offering this modeling outlet. Thank you, and Thanks to all that participate in this forum.
