I'm an armor modelor wannabe in foggy San Francisco, California. So far I've only done three tanks - a 1/48 M60A1, a 1/35 panther A, and a 1/35 tiger 1 (early production). These are listed in the order in which they were built. At the moment I need a recomendation on a cheap and easy to use airbrush.

Tiger,
Welcome to the forum - have fun and keep an eye out - there's lots to see and learn.
For your first airbrush, try a Badger model 200 - it's a single action, internal mix. Single action refers to the trigger mechanism - paint and airflow either on or off. The paint/air mixing happens inside the body of the airbrush. Depressing the trigger releases a pre-set amount of fluid which can be regulated by turning a needle adjustment screw at the back of the handle. Once the desired paint flow is set the air brush will maintain the preset spray pattern until the user chooses to adjust it. These particular spray guns are very easy to use, easy to get good results with, easy to clean, and aren't as expensive as some of the double action brushes. The Badger has interchangeable tips and needles for normal, fine or extra fine work. It's the first airbrush I bought (20 years ago) and I'm still using it. The make very good little units - go to your local hoby shop and have a look at one.
Cheers,
LeeTree

Hi ya tiger dude ...

Welcome to the FSM Community Modeling Forum(s) !!!

I am glad that you stopped by ... looked around ... and joined up.

LeeTree's recommendation of the Badger 200 is a good one! Badger makes good stuff ... and the spare parts ... if you need them ... (bent needle, lost washers ... etc.) ... are easy to find. Check out our airbrushing forum ... lots of other good ideas, questions and answers in there ... Approve [^].

Have fun and enjoy ... read a lot ... post a lot ... share your 2 cents here and there ... that is what makes this such a great place.

Again, welcome !!! Smile [:)]

Welcome aboard tiger dude!!

Sounds like you have a good start for being a armor modeler wannabe. If you get a chance you should post some pictures of your work. If you have any questions about techniques or anything, just ask. There are a lot of great people here who enjoy helping fellow modelers. All you have to do is ask.

What are some of the next kits you'll be working on? More German armor or something different?
