I 've been reading and posting for a few weeks now, but I never did the intro stuff so I thought I would now. I'm Ron Harris, 56 years old but proud to say I never completely grew up. I saw posts on various forums by Ron Horabin signed as Ron H. and there are a couple of other Rons, so to avoid confusion I went with jamnett, which is a loving nod to my son James and daughter Jeanette (jam-nett). Tricky eh? Not that anyone would confuse my budding skills with the work of Mr. Horabin.
I like ships, more recently the larger scales. Due to age related physical realities (slightly shaky hands) I got away from 1/700 scale to maintain my temper and sanity. I'm more into sailing ships now, and am also a B-17 nut. I grew up in San Diego. Crawled all over the Star of India down at the waterfront several times in my youth. Vietnam era vet of USAF. Spent the past 30 years on the same job, production technician in laser materials.
Building models is good medicine for job burn-out and I learn a ton of stuff about history. I think there are a great bunch of guys posting helpful and sometimes entertaining info. And I guess I got a little long-winded here. Anyway, I'm glad to be part of a fantastic group.
