Hi New to and excited about model building

Hello evreyonbody. A friend of mine bought me a completed garage kit of an anime figure off ebay for my birthday. I thought it would've been great if i could have built a figure like that by myself and was soon pleased to discover there were many types of figures historical and fictional made out of different materials to build from. Does anyone know where I could purchase an introductory book on resin figure models or such or where to start? I'm really psyched about starting to build them as up until know i've only built a few plastic and snap fit gundam models. Hope it's not too much trouble thanks guys.Smile [:)]

Hi right back.

I can't help you with figure modeling or research on them, but I can welcome you to the forum!

So long folks!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] I'm sure others can fill you in better than me on figures but the internet is a wonderful thing too. A simple google search will bring up loads of stuff and one of the regulars here has a good web sight for basic techniques. Check it out at http://www.swannysmodels.com and click on the tools section at the bottom of the page.

Mr. Kiwi-First of all welcome! As far as figures go, the hardest to work on are metal, resin kits are great but expensive-I would start with some plastic kits like Tamiya or Dragon 120mm (1/16) and learn the basics in this large scale. Polar Lights makes some large scale fantasy and comic figures. Just remember-clean the parts well, use good paints (I like enamels), and good brushes. Airbrushing and pastel powders are your next step! Just buy some cheap kits for practice first.
