Hi All:
I've registered two years ago but never posted anything, until recently this week.
I'm in my 40s, been building since I was 6 or 7, had the usual break in college and shortly thereafter. Picked up the hobby again in the late 80s/early 90s and having on-again, off-again love/hate relationship with this hobby of ours.
The first model I ever built was the old Monogram Ford Tri-Motor. I've noticed it back out on the shelves. May have to pick one up for old times' sake.
I "specialize" in USN a/c and USAAF bombers, 48th scale. If it's got a tailhook I'll build it. If it's OD and multi-engined I'll build it. Unfortunately, work and family obligations leave me with little time to build and my unbuilt stash is growing out of control. For now I live vicariously through the posts here, my FSM subscription and the online modeling sites like ARC, LSP and Hyperscale. So many models, not enough time...
If anyone's curious, yes, I picked my nick as a reflection of my favorite aircraft, the F4U-1D Corsair. Have not built the ultimate killer Corsair yet - the Tamiya release was a jewel to build and behold, but the Trumpeter release leaves a lot to be desired: the cowling shape is wrong, solid floor cockpit, over-done frame-work on the outer wing panels - and what's with all the fiddly moving parts? I'm having to kit-bash it with the old Revell stand-by, at least it's got accurate lines throughout. Waiting for Tamiya to do it right in 32nd scale. Yeah, I know, in my dreams...
