hello from sunny Manchester
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 17, 2003 3:15 AM
Hi

Aircraft modeller from Manchester, England - will build models of just about any aircraft (including helicopters) as long as it's an interesting subject doesn't have too many wings and has an attractive colour scheme. Any scale as long as I've got enough space, so mostly 1/72 but I've built a few 1/48 kits lately

actually Manchester isn't all that sunny, in fact it's been known to rain from time to time, so loads of rainy days spent modelling

love:
50s, 60s and 70s jets
research aircraft with bright colour schemes
vacforms (whenever I build up the courage)
odd subjects (got an Airmodel VFW-Fokker 614 I want to build but it'll be a massive job)
good, simple, reasonably accurate kits which give scope for detailing or conversion work - I'll pick a good Airfix kit over an average Hasegawa kit any day

don't love:
low viz grey
F-16s - I've seen far too many at airshows recently, I want variety!
biplanes
quite a few modern Hasegawa kits - too much focus on detail, which can be inaccurate, not enough focus on fit. and no weapons!
the rivets on the revell shackleton I'm converting to an AEW.2

Hi Papalazerblue and welcome to the FSM forums. You should consider moving to Kent, where it does not rain as often... But then you'd have less free time for modeling... Can't wait to see that VFW Fokker thingy. Weird looking thing. Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

you might have to wait a while to see the VFW Fokker thingy!

my main non-aviation obsession is Man City FC - too far to travel from Kent

Hi papalazerblue, from what has been for 4 days sunny Burton on Trent. Seems you have just about the same interests as me.Got a shelf full of 1:72, but I'm just on here trying to talk myself into starting a 1:48 Rafale B. Its so tempting but I know she'll rip me a new behind if its too big for the shelf!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the forums from Down South, where, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes and it'll change!!! Hope you'll enjoy the site. I'm a big fan of old Airfix kits as well.

Look forward to your participation. Have fun. A great bunch of modelers here and lots of help.

G'day papalazerblue from Downunder. Hasn't rained propperly here for 2-3 years!! Not jolking.
As a Celt from Wales I could do with a few foggy rainey misty days.
However when it gets too hot I stay inside with a cool G&T and work on my latest kit. I build what ever takes my eye. A/C ships tanks fugures and even my garden railway. I'm in the middle of building a dolls house with my 12yr old g/daughter. ah well it keeps me young.
TTFN Dai.
