New to the forum bit

Hi, all, as you can tell from my "name", OldPete, Pete is my name. I've been modeling since I was about 6, and that was in the middle of 1939... or thereabouts. The kits then were two kinds,flying and solid, or scale. I guess I built most of what was out there, , and my taste runs heavily to aircraft, but I've built at least one of everything . those of you who attended the '02 Nationals probably saw my large Revell Cutty Sark in the Plex case. Because of my background, scratchbuilding has been a part of what I do, and still is.

I'm a bit new at this computer stuff, and my typing(!) is two-finger hunt-and-peck at best, but I'm here anyway. Happy New Year to all!

Don't worry too much about the two finger typing, I'm a touch typist and it all looks the same when we hit "post"!

Brian... I remember that MBT-70! The association of the U.S. Army had a meeting here in the DC area at a local hotel, and an article in the local paper said that the tank was on display. Having trained in Armor when I was in, I went down and gave it the old Mark I eyeball. An impressive piece of work at the time. The thing that blew my mind was that the torsion bar suspension was adjustable, and would put the hull right on the ground. I could lean on the upper track guard without reaching up. Instant partial defilade, as it were. It seemed useful to me then, and still does. Must have been too expensive or something. Old memories... and thanks for that particular post. I didn't know a kit for that was out there.

Hi, Pete!

Glad to have brought back a memory for you. I have yet to see and actual MBT70, but was able to put this model together with some reference help from some of the great people here at FSM. The model is based on the old 1/48 Aurora kit, with lots of reworking and scratchbuilding.
