Welcome home!

My wife would not have married me had she not known me to be crazy. The proper and polite response to someone telling you, "You're weird!" is: "Why thank you! What a nice thing to say!"

LOL, there's a bunch of us Born Agains with squinty eyes and shaky fingers!

ALL wives think their husbands are crazy. And they're likely right! Wink [;)]

born again modeler ........

Greetings from a wet and windy UK, well, born again modeler, thats me, I had forgotten all about my extra loft insulation until my son asked if I had any spare paint brushes, a delve into the attic for some revealed my secret stash of kits ( I know you've all got one too ) and once I'd lifted the lid on one or two of them the memories came flooding back, so I found my old modeling box ( donated a couple of paint brushes ) and set to making a 1:48 Mustang, only trouble is, what seemed so easy when I was younger is a little trickier now, what with having to squint through my glasses and the fingers  shaking ... Clown [:o)]  and oh! how things have changed, it used to seem like there was a model shop on every corner but now I had to scoure the phone book just to locate one, so having found said shop off I went looking for some paints ...... I must have had a dazed look on my face as I stood looking at all the types of paint now availabe, metal paints, acrylics, buffable paint ....        ( I could see Humbrol matt silver just wasn't going to do ) because the very kind shop owner suggested I have a look through a magazine he had on the counter ......  'Fine Scale Modeler'  the rest as they say is history, I still havn't got the hang of acrylic or metal paints yet but I'm getting there, and who knows maybe oneday I'll branch out and get an airbrush Smile [:)]  but until then I'm happy slapping paint on with a brush, sticking my fingers together with glue and generally having a whale of a time reliving my child hood ( am I the only one who's wife thinks they're crazy ? ) I'm glad I had the fore thought to buy mostly 1:48 because 1:72 seems way to small to me now, my stock is nearly all WW II allied aircraft with a few tanks and cars thrown in I liked the look of.  So now with the help of the Resource and Articles sections I'm off to unravel the mysteries of crystal klear polish ..... who would of dreamt of it,  putting floor polish on models ...... LOL

Bye for now ...
