Greetings from Jakarta
Posted by Carves on Monday, February 6, 2006 11:10 AM
Hello All,

I have been doing modeling once back in the 90s, but have quit for more than 13 years.
But now I have decide to go back to my old hobby; building tanks and diorama.

Looks like today is quite different than way back then, now there are many players in the modeling business, beside the old boys like Tamiya, Hasegawa, Monogram, and Revell.

What surprises me is that when I entered to this huge hobby store to pick up a 1:35 Tamiya tank, I was told by the store manager that Tamiya has stopped producing 1:35 scale military stuff. I have been a Tamiya fans for quite sometime and find this rather disturbing. The store manager brags quite extensive about Dragon products and he claim that Dragon basically kicks Tamiya in military model by far in every category. Oh, well so much for missing 13 years in this hobby.

Anyway, looking forward to learn and chat with you all.

Regards,
BenS

Tamiya not making 1:35 scale Armor? That's news to me, and I'm sure it's news to Tamiya. Maybe your LHS means he's not stocking them anymore?

So long folks!

Welcome to the Forum Ben Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  Tamiya is still very much a player in the 1/35 Armor market, although lately they have concentrated their new Armor releases in 1/48.

Brigg, my dealer does carry the 1:35 Tamiya military tanks, but very very few. The rest of his stores has more dragon and academy for 1:35 military series.

As to what Rick said, I guess since I read more Tamiya Magz, they tend to shift their market to 1:48 scale. I hope not thou :)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
