A big hello
Posted by Tecs on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 5:27 PM
HELLO!

I have just got back into modelling after the birth of my first child and wanted to get some practise in so as to pass down the knowledge to him when he is old enough.

I decided to give a Tamiya kit a try to start with and plumped for the A-10 Warthog (as it one of my favorite jets) and I am very dissapointed with the fit of the parts, it looks like plenty of filler will be needed, not what I wanted for my first kit after 20 years or so.  Is this normal for Tamiya kits? If so what others should I try I have looked around and the Hasegawa, Trumpeter and Academy kits seem good.

Thanks in advance for any responses and I hope to become a regular here on the forum.

And a BIG WELCOME to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  The A10 is one of Tamiya's oldest kits & is not representative of their later efforts.

Welcome. Don't let that particular kit turn you off to Tamiya. Thier kits are ranked as some of the best. (also a little pricey.) But, look at it this way. You can't learn as much from good kit. Some of the worst kits I've built are the ones that help me "stretch" my skills.
