Greetings! Was looking at the gallery on your website. There are some really nice models in it. I was wondering how popular scale modeling is in Australia. Is it growing, stagnant, appeals to younger, older people? It seems that most of the people in the US that really spend money on anything except model race cars are 40 or over.

One comment about the site. You have built a very nice website, but you might want to flag your side menu with a little more color, or width, because it makes navigation very easy. The only negative I saw can most likely be attributed to your host site.....the pop up ads make it very annoying to try to enjoy looking at the site.

For what it's worth!

The Hobby in Australia
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 4:32 AM
I'de guess to say that the hobby here is like it is anywhere else, having more adults involved in it, then youth. With the price of kits these days, I couldn't imagine ever being able to afford them as a child. I use to buy around one kit every month when I was young mainly Monogram kits. There are pleanty of hobby shops in or around Sydney as well as about 4-5 modelling clubs including IPMS NSW, and most of the members are over the age of 30. I think with all the video games and PC, internet games, most young people are enjoying those as hobbies. As far as the hobby's popularity goes, it is doing pretty good, I have met some of the most talented modellers over here and one of the most popular web sites in the World www.hyperscale.com was created and is run by a fellow Australian Brett Green.
I am glad you had a chance to visit my web site, I wish I could afford to register it with a domain name, that would rid those annoying pop ups, which I have come to realize they are not there as adds, rather to annoy people enough so they end up paying for the upgrade to rid them.
Cheers,
Anthony Manzoli
