Hi every body

I'm a just reborn modeler, I recently had to decorate the room of one of my kid and I wanted to make it on space subject. In my research for decorative items, I found the 1/96 Saturn V from Revell. I could not resist and go for the build. It awake the modeler in me and since then, I have built some models related to space such as the International space station also from Revell and a lot of nice paper model (those from www.delta7studios.com are wonderfull) but I think the best kit ever is the one that I'm building right now: the Atomic City Mercury Project 1/12 Kit. It's awesome specially if you super detail the interior. I'm almost finish and I'm a little bit nervous about the decals. The surfaces are so uneven that I'm afraid to screw the whole thing up.

Any advice?

I know Micro Sol but its very hard to get here in Quebec.

Welcome to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome] . MicroSol/Set or Solvaset should work on the decals. If it's not available locally, there are lots of internet hobby shops that carry it.

The problem with hobby shops on internet is that the bottle is $2.95 but there is always a minimum order and of course it costs $20.00 to get shipped to me. A little bit too expensive for just a bottle. That's why I asked if there was an everyday product that could do the job. Someone suggested white vinegar but I think this can replace Micro Set , not Micro Sol. I'll try it anyway.

Have you tried Udisco in Montreal? I thought they carried Micro Sol & Set? Micro Set is definitely a vinegar base!

There are other kinds: Mr. Softer from Gunze, Solvaset, Decal Softer, Testors makes a line too. Many of them are acetic acid based (vineger) and some get "hotter" and use an alcohol base.

If you have a real hard time, email or PM me and I'll pop some in the snail mail for you. My LHS usually has numerous bottles on hand.
