Hello guys/gals. I've been around FSM for a number of years, but this is the first time I have checked out the forum. It looks promising. A lot of talent here.
I am a career commercial aviation technician, a college student (Electronics Engineering) and a former US Marine. I have been building models since 1973 (I started at 8 years old). I like modern armor, but am by no means hung on one track. My last three models were that of the Tamiya 1/350 modern USS New Jersey, the Hasegawa 1/72 S-3A Viking, and the AFV club M35A1 gun truck. School takes more time than I thought it would so I haven't been able to build a model lately. That is why I have come to this forum. Atleast I can have the pleasure of reading in my spare time of others building models and see photos of the best models I ever imagined. So much talent here!! Keep up the good work people and I look forward to meeting some of you through this forum.
And oh yes, FSM is still the king of the hill! Big Smile [:D]

While I am thinking about EA-6s....who has a model of an EA-6 they would share?
I have yet to build one. But I have to admit, it is one cool looking aircraft. And that is coming from an infantry guy. I worked with A-6E's as Tactical Air Control Party, using the A-6's Tram to spot our MULE LASER platforms.

Navy, which is why I'm in WA (Whidbey Island - VAQ country) and not NC (Cherry Point - VMAQ country).

In 1/48, Monogram is re-releasing their Prowler. I only have one right now and paid a king's ransom for it on E-bay, so I look forward to the re-release and lower prices! In 1/72 Hasegawa is the only game in town, they pop up on E-bay and are fairly common in hobby shops. Eduard photo-etch set dresses up the cockpit nicely - it includes parts to dress up the stock seats but True Details makes resin seats that look pretty good too.

Hi again and thanks for the warm welcomes.
I am interested in seeing any completed models you guys might have, Kolja you have atleast one? I have only seen one built model of the EA-6B and that was on the cover of a modelling how-to book. But it was so interesting looking. I have seen alot of the real ones, but only in the air. I can't remember ever seeing one on the deck.
Thank you for the info on where to find kits. I do have that corner covered. I just have this problem with finding the time to build one at this point in my life. I have about one and half tons of unbuilt models as it is!

Oh yes, this is to Salty Dog....I learned a long time ago it is better to just get along with the Navy and ride their boat than it is to swim across the oceans. Thanks for the rides. Your ships are clean, have good food, nice warm sleeping spaces and lots of gamblers to take money from! I enjoyed it for the most part. Navy are good people. 'Nuff said.

Hasegawa's 1/72 EA-6B, in VAQ-139 CAG bird markings from 1990-91. CAM decals, Eduard photo-etch in cockpit and for boarding ladders. Used Testors model-master enamels, though i now suspect their ghost grays are a little darker than they should be (in other words, I'm about to start experimenting with scale color....). Used Humbrol clear gold on canopy.
