Hello Forum - Hello Community....
Hi team! I just thought I would give a quick run-down of all my pertinent details. I am not truly "new" because I was first on-board a couple of years ago but have just 'rejoined' after the recent changes. Nice Forum, Nice People. Glad I came back.
I live in the UK. Am currently 37 years of age. Run my own business which probably takes me away from the modelling more than I like. So, I have the funds but not the time! Need to work on the life/work balance. My lovely wife (Liya) is expecting our first child in a couple of weeks. Credit to her for her tolerance! Credit to all of them. The new baby means the Hobby is in hiatus but will kick back into gear once we move to a larger house.
I started modelling at age 5 - watching Dad, much as many of us I expect. I modeled intensively from 8 to 18 - then left to go off to University. Practically made nothing for 12 years as I worked through my career and moved around a lot. Bought my first house back in '98 and finally had the space to undulge the hobby. However, it took a bit of time to get my brain in gear, but slowly, slowly I eased myself back in to the hobby. Now it dominates my life as it used to when I was 18. I have other things to care for too - wife - kids - home - but it is all in balance.
My model interests are to build solely military aircraft in 1/48th scale. Then it falls mostly into two categories: WWII Bombers and 'Great Patriotic War' VVS (Soviet Airforce) fighters and bombers. However, I do have a few jets to build and have a collection that includes a variety of topics - but it is all military. Mostly aircraft but I do enjoy building airfield equipment and aircraft dioramas too.
That's me - cheers folks.
