I am glad that you stopped by ... checked us out ... and joined up.

If you will spend just a little time ... here and there ... reading this and that ... and posting to one forum and then the next one ... your choice ... you will quickly find that we are a very diverse and very friendly group of scale modelers ... from all over the world.

I for one ... do not build ship models ... but, as noted above ... if you post your ship building question in the right forum ... I feel certain that you will get some answers ... good luck, give it a try, and good luck with your ship building !!!

Here's probably (IMHO) the best book on getting started in wooden ship kit construction: Ship Modeling Simplified: Tips and Techniques for Model Construction from Kits by Frank Mastini. It also contains an English/Italian dictionary of terms to help you build those Amati or Mantua kits.

I can recomend Planking Techiques for Model Ship Builders by Donald Dressel and Ship Modeling from Stem to Stern by Milton Roth. What ship are you modelling at present? If you need any help, I have good model boat building experience.

Thanks for the information. right now I'm just trying to understand the process of building a ship. I'm starting off with a clipper but hope to understand what tools and techniques it take to build these ships.
