Help in finding instructions for a Life-Like Kentucky rifle model kit
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 20, 2006 6:17 PM

I recently bought a Like-Like Kentucky rifle model kit on ebay from a seller in North Carolina.  He advertised that the kit was complete, but when it arrived, to my horror, I noticed the instructions were missing.  The firing mechanism was designed to operate, but I am having problems trying to figure out how the metal spring connects to the inner parts.  Life-Like bought out Pyro Plastics many years ago and now Life-Like is owned by Walthers out of Milwaukee.  Would there be a place that might have the instructions?   Or, is there someone I could contact who is good at figuring out how these model guns are intended to work?  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  Ahh, the joys of eBay.  Wish I could help in your quest, but sadly I cannot.

If you have already tried the obvious, contacting Walther's, then the next oprion would be to try one of the firing kit companies.  If this kit is suppose to function "just like the real thing" without actually discharging a projectile, then I would guess that it is going to be assembled somewhat close to the real thing.

Also, if it is as advertised, you might want to invest in a spring vice.  This is a  specialised tool just for installing flat, main springs on firearms.  You should be able to find one of these at either www.trackofthewolf.com or www.brownells.com.

One manufacturer of kit rifles is www.dixiegunworks.com

I hope this will be of some help.

Did you ever figure out how to make this work? I have the same problem.
