Modelers' singles site?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 7, 2006 12:10 PM

I think this may be a little off topic, but I didn't know where else to post it.I had an idea for a modelers single site, since my passion for modeling, did cause problems in my marriage, and a few of my relationships.I met quite a few female modelers, and their eye for detail was excellent!,also great buildups and dioramas.I think it would be great to talk, with members of the opp.sex, about modeling, friendships, and possibly a healthy relationship!Tell me,what you think,I want some input on this!Thankyou.

Could be interesting for the single members . I doubt if the webmasters would go for it though .

Would the ratio be something like 10,000 men to 1 woman?  And no offense but have you seen the guys who model armor???  Yikes!  LOL!  Just kidding.

I can't speak for the guys who model armor but shouldn't that be 10,000 men to 2 women!  In that case I'm keeping my head down to modelling only! If only I'd known this was a singles site............btw did I tell you that I'm married!

 Cheers

Maybe,we should do all of our models in Hunter green/Burgendy camo!,and we could actually display them,in the living room, imagine a 1/72scale type VII-C,U-boat,in that camo,my ex would have loved it!LMAO I posted this to give you a laugh, because it is something almost all of us can relate to,I may be divorced, but far from miserable,my living room looks like a model museum! The kitchen table, and every other table in the the house is overflowing,in modeling kits and tools,I am in heaven!

Whatever the reason, nature or nurture, women who enjoy modelling are rare. Like video games, hunting, and sports, to varying degrees these are all interests that are difficult to share with a partner in a heterosexual relationship. The sad part is that, provided a woman can be supportive, if not exactly understanding of her man's hobby, modellers make excellent husbands. Sure we're obsessed and spend too much time and money on it, but it certainly is not a lifestyle that one can perpetuate while drunk, high, or consumed by extramarital affairs.

Good point. If my wife has to go looking for me at 2am, she knows the first place to look in order to find me, and when she does, she always has a smile on her face. That's what counts.

Hello, well, in my opinion, that is an excellent idea, hey, would'nt it be the ultimate relationship if you could share the hobby with your loved one?... a bit of a deream of mine if you ask me!  Chances of it happening... slim, I think, one would have a better shot by keeping an eye for that passionate modeler of the opposite sex at hobby shows and the like events...  Carlos.

well here's one more, lady 49 from England. Yes I know that military modlleling does not appeal to women , you should have heard some of the comments I got years ago when I was doing it, but I hope things have changed now.  I wonder if there is a difference though in the type of subjects which men and women would model??, is there a gender difference??I would model dioramas, when I get around to it, on real events,  battles or isolated events probably using old photographs .

this is my second posting this evening, my first is in the newbie section
