Hello out there!!Big Smile [:D]

I have been desperately looking to find any, photos of the F106 Delta Darts assigned to Selfridge AFB, Mi. during my assignment there in 1971Banged Head [banghead].  I would like to make a model of the "Hat in the Ring " squadron colors. Does anyone know of a website I could find that particular year and squadron information??Boohoo [BH]

Welcome to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  I don't know of any specific web site, but I have some personal photos stashed away somewhere.  I'll try & find them, though where they are stashed is unknown at the moment.  A very close friend of mine was flying out of Selfridge about that time frame, and I used to get out to the base quite often.  He was Cpt. Eric "Rick" Haglethorn, perhaps you knew him ?

Hello Rick;

Thanks for the reply! I was assigned to the Flight Surgeons Office, 1st USAF Hospital. I don't recall the Captains name, but then I was mostly taking care of the physicals we were giving to OCS candidiates. I hope you can find some photos of the aircrafts, sure would be a great morale booster to see them again.

Regards

Chato

All my references suggest the 94th deployed from Selfridge to Korea in '69, then moved to Wurtsmith AFB.  They were then absorbed by the 1st TFW at Mac Dill.  By 1971 Selfridge was an Air Guard base, home of the 107th TRS and 171st TRS flying RF-101Cs.

??????????????????

The last markings the 94th Darts wore was a simple yellow band with black borders on the tail.

Thanks for the welcome, I see you must be partial to the P-39 Airacobra, it has some beautiful lines, and as I understand it, the P-39 was well received by the Russian pilots during WW2. Again thanks for the welcome.

Hi ya doing Hawxboss and thanks for information. I was attached to the 1st USAF Hospital and worked primarily in the fllight surgeons office. I did have the oppurtunity to get on the flight line and remember the F-106 Darts.  I also remember that the base eventually went ANG, but that was near the end of my tour at Selfridge, in fact I was transferred to Loring AFB,Maine and the 106's went for a short period of time. In  any case I appreciate your help and I have been to the F-106 web site you suggested. Thanks again!!

Hello Espins1, thanks for the information, I have been to that site and got an awful lot of info. Most of ther photos were before my time at Selfridge. 71st FIS was part of the 94th, Thanks again, I hope to meet several veteran modelers and get some good tips.

Chat,

I was stationed at Selfridge ANGB from 1989-1992 at the US Coast Guard Air sta. (My avatar is an RS demo on the Detroit River during Thunder Fest 91) Many changes have occured and are on going as you would suspect. When I got there the AF was using the F4 then switched to the F16, much quieter. Anyway, as you may know there is a museum on the grounds,one that has really taken off in the past few years. Perhaps they have a web site and you could get some information from them? In 89-92 the aircraft were there but they were in bad shape. I saw a few pictures a while back and WOW,they really got serious on the restoration.

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.
