Been lurking around here for a long time, but making an effort to get more involved. 53 years old and been modeling since the late 50's, so I've seen it all. The original Monogram 1/48 Helldiver, Wildcat, Hellcat and Dauntless with all the working parts were what got me hooked on the hobby.
I've had slow periods modeling, like while in college, and while the kids were young, but always managed to keep a hand in somehow. (I did have a 1/32 Revell F-4J hanging from the ceiling of my frat house room, which my roomies thought was cool...I used dry-transfer lettering to put my name in the canopy rails!).
Have a HUGE stash of kits (100's), which my wife has very patiently allowed my to accumulate over the past thirty years. Mostly aircraft, but also a lot of race cars, ships (plastic & wooden) and other misc. stuff that struck my fancy over the years.
I've got a Badger 350 airbrush that I've had for 25 years - still works great.
I'm a charter subscriber to FSM and still have every issue, most in binders.
Some near-term projects that I'm looking forward to:
- A Revell FA-18F Super Hornet, built with all the Eduard photo-etch stuff, and VF-2 decals.
- An old 1/32 Revell F-4J built as Blue Angel, destined to hang from the ceiling in the den.
- Revell 1/96 Constitution, replacing the decks with real wood planking.
