Happy modeling!
Posted by mstazz62 on Sunday, September 14, 2003 10:05 AM
I just got registered (finally!) and wanted to say hello. I model mostly in armor, but I will build anything. Man, I love models!
I just finished Trumpeter's 1/35th scale K-5 Leopold and what a model! The level of detail is fantastic and the fit is excellent! Not to mention the sheer size of the finished model! I'm about to start the DML kit of the K-5 and I thought I'd give you guys some comparisons of the kits.
The Trumpeter kit is 'da bomb'. The fit is excellent and considering the number of parts (1140) its nice to not have to fiddle with cutting and trimming parts to get a good fit. It is a complex kit though, particularly the gun cradle assembly. You must sandwich the gun assembly and a number of bulkheads between the sidewalls lining everthing up correctly.
The DML kit is not built yet (I'm startng it today!) but the kit is simplified as to the Trumpeter kit. The level of detail is outstanding as well, and dry fitting of some of the larger parts suggests that the fit will be outstanding too. But I did notice that the DML gun cradle is about 3/8" shorter than the Trumpeter kit. Hmmm... Anyway, when I get DML's kit done I'll give my (humble) opinions on it.
Thanks for listening,

Welcome to FSM mstazz62.
The gang in the Armour Forum have been waiting for you to show up. Please tell me you took pics of the Trumpeter assembly and are planning on doing the same for the DML one!!!
We'd love to see and here you're experiences with both kits.

I look forward to your posts in the Armour Forum.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

Welcome mstazz62,

It would be great to see each kit and how they compare. I have the Dragon version but have not started it yet.

Hoping to see some of those comparison pictures in the Armor Froums!
