New to the FSM Forum

I was glad to finally drop by the forum and take advantage of the wealth of info and assistance available!

I can recall building my first model (think it was a lil Sherman tank?) at an age when I could follow the instructions, but not read them? Since I did keep up with my schooling, I must have been pretty young? Kept the hobby and enjoyed some success in the junior catagories at model contests but then found cars and girls, work and life and eventually a family and children of my own and never seemed to make time for my original hobby! But eventually found my way back to model building in my mid thirties and have kept involved ever since. Did a lil stint as a pro painter until I realized it was feeling too much like JOB and detracting from my enjoyment of the hobby itself. I've built most all catagories of models and most recently focused on AFV and aircraft in 1:72nd scale. But just recently I've gravitated back to ship modeling of WWII subjects. Perhaps it's an homage to my Dad's service in the Navy or simply a case of my changing focus which eventually happens no matter what I think I'm devoted too? A storage unit full of past interests hasn't detered me from jumping in and now collecting more ships than I can build in the next five years? Oh well, there's always my children to inheret them!

Socially I'm a bit of a loner and wary of club participation for the eventual political/dynamic downsides and therefore find the Web a great source to share my interests.

I'm truly impressed with the level of expertise and accomplishments I've already seen on this site and look forward to participating here.

Thanks for leaving the door open and hopefully I can offer some form of assistance to someone else.

Taking a lil break from the workbench after pondering if age or simply vanishing grey cells are the culprit:

Have you ever looked around for your reading glasses only to realize they're already on?

Have you ever wondered what happened to that lil piece of brass wire you use to apply CA with, only to eventually find it stuck to the back of your hand?

Have you ever crawled around the carpet so much looking for those lil pieces that launched from your tweezers to think about investing in knee pads or a hardwood floor kit?

Have you ever pondered that more than a just a lil bit of dust on your last WIP which you set aside for your current WIP actually indicates you haven't accomplished much lately?

Glad I can take a break and check out the forum! I've run out of kindling to reignite the flame under my ........oh heck, I probably couldn't find a match in all that clutter anyway! Well, not without my glasses,,,now where'd they go?Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid]

Thanks for the welcome all!

You know, when you get to be my age, the first thing that goes is.....is.....is oh Censored [censored] I can't remember.

Everytime I tell the wife I'm going to the LHS for a whatever, she tells me she sees two of them on the workbench.

Just had to install a second light over the workbench.

Regular reading glasses, 2X magnifing glasses around my neck, AND a large swing out magnifier with a light in it and I still can't see what I'm doing.

Hands shaking like there was a 25.0 earthquake going on under the workbench.

Do any of these sound familiar to you? If they do, then as my grandson says, "Did you see many Dinosaurs when you were little"?
