Peltman,

Welcome to the Forums and to the hobby!

As has been said, paint choice really is a matter of personal choice. I use acrylics almost exclusively (metallics and colors only available in enamels are about the only exceptions), but it took time to get used to them after growing up with enamels. Give them both a try and see which works best for you.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forum.  One thing I will add is that you get a paint booth and a face mask.  It's a safe hobby and I would think that you want to be around for a long time.

Welcome to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  As far as type of paint, it really boils down to personal choice.  I'm an enamel/lacquer user, but many modelers prefer acrylics.  Get some of each & experiment a bit to see what you prefer.

You might get more responses in the painting thread.

That said, it really comes down to personal preference and comfort level. I wou;d base my decision on color availability. Model Master has both an acrylic and an enemal line with a large variety of colors matched to specific standards.

Enamels are more airbrush friendly in that they aren't as likely to dry at the tip as acrylics, but they require thinner to clean up. The fumes can be annoyng if you use too much pressure. Acrylics dry faster and clean up is simply water. If you live in a humid area, a water trap is a must with acrylics since a sudden burst of built up water will mar the finish. The effect is much less pronounced with enamels.
