Hello and question
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 11:11 AM

Hi All

I'm from Ukraine and have been building models since I was 8. I had a big break (10 yrs) and now trying to come back to my old hobby.

I wonder where you guys buying new kits. Do you prefer physical stores or internet? In the recent FSM I found ad from www.rldcollections.com - I wonder has anyone used this site. Can I trust those guys?

Thanks
Vlad.

Welcome to the Forums Vlad Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  I try & purchase from the LHS whenever possible, but for on-line hobby stores I use Squadron or Great Models.  I've never used the site you linked too.

Welcome to the forums, Vlad!

I have not ordered from the site you linked, but I have from the one's mentioned by Rick. I also have the good fortune of being to mail-order from my favorite LHS (really not that local because it's quite a ways away, but it is still in the same province as me.) Wink [;)]

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] I'm pretty new here myself, but I think you'll like it here. To answer your question I've been buying mostly online because there's not a whole lot in the way of hobby shops around where I live. I was pretty nervous about ordering plastic kits through the mail at first. I was afraid that they would arrive all crushed and busted up. But so far so good. I've ordered 6 kits online and not one has even had a single part detached from its sprue. I haven't ordered form rldcollections yet. So far I've bought from http://www.internethobbies.com and http://www.megahobby.com and I've had no complaints.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome], hope you enjoy your time in the forums!  I'm more of an internet buyer myself, just don't have the time to go to the LHS, which IMHO never seem to have what I'm looking for!  Great Models, luckymodel and eBay are my usual sources, never been to one one you indicated.  Hope this helps!
