Returning after 25-30 yrs...
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 23, 2007 8:39 PM

Hello all...   Glad to be here...   I have a son that will be 10 in Dec.  I sparked his interest when I bought a Tamiya M1A2 "Iraqi Freedom" tank to build....   He is so excited to get started, however I've been reading on here and had a few posts for questions because the modeling industry is so much different now than it was then...   back in my day you went and bought your model, a spray can of paint, maybe a couple of bottles to paint ur motor, exhaust and such...   a orange/white tube of Testors glue and you were set....

Now there are so many different types of CA glues, accelerators, paints have went from the standard square bottles of enamel to acrylics, airbrushes and so on...

You get my point, the hobby has expanded so much since I was there yrs ago...   glad to be back and I'm trying to learn all I can, so forgive me in advance for asking stupid questions and trying to learn it as it is today....

Thank you all....

This is a wonderful website....

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Big Train!  You picked a great time to return to model making!  All the advances in kits, accessories, tools etc is enough to boggle the mind of any newcomer, but it also gives us old timers so much more freedom and choices!  I also recently returned to this hobby from a 27 year hiatus and am having a blast!  The members of these forums are a great bunch, always willing to provide information, tips, advice, critique (if you ask for it!), and love to share their builds.  Hope to see you and your M1A2 soon in the Armor Forum!  Cool [8D]

Happy building!

Ernest
