GREAT BIG HOWDY DOODY! :)
Posted by 9 Toe Tanker on Thursday, August 9, 2007 6:35 PM

Hello folks! ...my name is TJ. I have been into modeling since my pre-teens and have always had a passion for WWII armor etc. However I started playing guitar in the mid '70s and began playing guitar professionaly throughout the '80s and '90s traveling mainly on the east coast of the US from Key West Fla th International Falls Minn and all points in between. Although I did not have time to model then I still stopped by hobby shops and boughtthem for "ONE DAY" when I might have the time. Now I have a closet full of them and it seems that I now have the time to pursure it. For the last few years I have been in the geotechnical engineering industry as a building code inspector (I know...I make lots of friendsWink [;)]). I was the principle soils, rebar, concrete and asphalt inspector during the construction of the National D-Day Memorial located in Bedford County Virginia USA and volunteered the day it was dedicated (President Bush Spoke) driving golf carts delivering veterans to the site so they did not have to walk far. This was very sad in some cases as many of them had been shot up quite badly and their wounds were quite obvious in many cases. I met alot of very nice humble men that day. I also met Bill Merikan who lives in town and is a survivor of the Malmedy Masacre who has been interviewed many times on the history channel and other programs and gave me his account of the incident during the battle of the buldge.

Nowadays I play guitar Part-time in a blues band when not at work and am looking forward to gaining alot of modeling knowledge from you guys. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I still buy models alot and my other interests are collecting vintage guitars and vintage Marshall amplifiers. I look forward to interaction with you all...

I'll post a couple of relavent pics:

Thank you

TJ.

This one on the wall was dedicated to the rangers of D-Day of Point du Hoc... The vertical surfaces of the concrete were left unfinished in order to replicate german bunkers.

The water pool in front of the beach has compressed air tubes that simulate bullets hitting the surface in unison.

Here's a pic of a couple of my Marshalls...I have more but havePhotobucket to take pics.

Hey chopperfan...how long have you been playing guitar and what kind of gear do you have?

TJ.

43 years.

Currently I own 5 guitars and a mandolin.

My electrics are both Washburns. A 2002 WI64 in antique white and a 2003 WI64DL in tabacco sunburst. I have a 130 watt Peavey Heritage VTX and a Digitech RP50 effects pedal. Both of these guitars are made in Korea and the only reason I would get rid of either of them would be if someone offered me my old 1972 Gibson ES335 back. Both of them have the easiest action I have ever played except for that Gibson.

My other 3 are a 1998 Washburn J28SCEDL "Cumberland" jumbo acoustic/electric, a 1999 Fender SJ65S jumbo acoustic and a 1977 Goya G380 jumbo acaoustic. I'm looking to buy a Takamine EG523SC-12 jumbo acoustic/electric in the near future. I've got this thing about jumbo's, in case you didn't notice.Big Smile [:D]

The mandolin is an Asheville, a little cheapy, I picked up at a guitar show in Tulsa, OK about 2 months ago. Been wanting to learn for a long time and, for $59.00, I figured then was as good a time as any.

All this to praise the Lord. Not that I haven't seen some wilder days! I tell new people at church that if that old Goya could talk and it wasn't for "once forgiven, always forgiven"? They'd run both of us out on a rail.

Great modeling and God bless.

Welcome to the Forums, TJ. I'm mostly into WWII stuff too but , I've enjoyed other aspects many years ago. I just finished a P-38, beginning a B-17 and plan to attack the P-38 again, soon. First builds since '79.

I play guitar, bass and harmonica. I can fake it on keys if I have toBlack Eye [B)]. Been pickin' since I was 7 yrs old. 41 now. You do the math! I've had 'Pauls, Explorers, V's, Tele's and Mustangs but, I always gravitate back to hardtail Strats. I like Peavey amps. Everything from Grandpa Jones to Judas Priest.

Chopperfan? If we get a band together, will we have to get 'small' to call ourselves the Finescale Band?? Headphones [{(-_-)}] I vote 1:48. Any smaller and I may fall off of the stage. At least I won't have far to fall!

Back to my Tom Waits album, now....

May I?Smile [:)] ...in 4/4 time...

Ol' Nine Toe Tanker got a cancker sore from a post he'd made the night before.

Somethin' 'bout a hooligan buildin' in 1:48. Upset Ol' Nine Toe and it filled 'im full'a hate.

There won't be no presents come Christmas Eve. Ain't got no fireworks up his July sleeve.

Just a swig of warm beer and a sniff of stale glue.

Thanks to you, he got them FineScale Modelin' blues.

(spoken) Done went and stuck his foot in a mower blade...

Carry on!

Hit me with another verse, baby! Or gimme some chord changes! I'm hearing it in the key of E with an A at the turnaround.

And there sits Randie in a rocking chair, tugging on strings and silver hair.

Which is which, he don't really know. He's wound up tight and ready to go.
