Welcome, Benjie.

Modelers come in all shapes and sizes. Build what makes you happy. That is why it is called a hobby.

You'll find that there's alot of good info. on this forum, and alot of people happy to pass on advice and instruction.

Hi there

Greetings!

My name is Benjie from the Philippines, 33 years of age and currently employed as an IT professional.

I used to be fascinated with scale models as a kid and had been frequenting our local hobby to gawk at the latest model kits on display. Unfortunately, my interest eventually waned when I entered my teens and was replaced with my fascination towards the opposite sex and computers.

During my late 20s, I’ve been diagnosed with a couple of stress-related ailments and my physician sternly suggests getting a hobby that will improve my well-being.

With that, I found myself in front of the same old hobby shop that I used to frequent on weekends as a kid and there I myself bitten by a scale modeling bug again.

Instead of picking up model kits of cars, fighter plans or sci-fi flick inspired movies (such as Star Wars or Star Trek), I find it more challenging to build 1/144 scale model of Gundam mobile suits. Gundam is one of the longest running series of anime (animation) featuring giant robots or mecha (walking vehicles controlled by a pilot).

But this doesn’t mean that I will be solely focused on building these types of model kits, I’m also looking forward of building WWII inspired kits someday particularly, the B-17 flying fortress.

I'm amazed on the level of enthusiasm as well as skill level of other modelers; hopefully I would learn more from the knowledge that they have unselfishly shared in this forum.

Cheers!
