New Guy

Hi all,

I've been modeling pretty much as long as I can remeber. I mostly model helicopters (larger the better). Being in the Army Reserves, I can get good pictures for detailing. I'm currently working on a 1/35 Black Hawk and a M-998 to display as a combo. I'm really involved with scale RC helicopters now and it's taking away from my modeling. I guess this would be concidered as modeling but in a much larger scale. Building plastic models has helped me with many of my hobbies including building full sized aircraft. The biggest lesson is having the patience and paying attention to detail.

Thank you all for the great welcome. I have found an awesome site/forum for this great hobby. Like I said in another topic, the little time I've been here and from reading the posts, I've noticed the people here are very outgoing, supportive, and full of good humor. Take care.

I forgot to ask. Now that I have a purple star, does anybody have to salute me? If not, when do I get enough rank to delegate authority? LOL

Thanks Chris,

I enjoy this site very much. In fact, I wasn't doing much with the models due to the RC stuff. Finding this site really got me into it again and it was refreshing to work on a smaller scale unlike the huge RC helicopters. Sometimes a guy can get tired of one thing quick.

Ahhhhh RC stuff I know all about that...well all about the cars and racing!Nitro/Electric(I got bit by the rc bug pretty bad between it and my business it kept me away from modeling for about 4yrs!) Its even more expensive than this is! Helicopters huh? Everyone I fly on my Great Planes sim I seem to crash...Do pretty well with planes and Im looking for a plane right now but cant decide on one.

I know what you mean by expensive. I thought flying the full size planes was bad. The money I've got into these RC helis is almost criminal. But like I said, I like the scale birds because I want something that LOOKS like a helicopter. I like the modeling aspect of them also. My heli buddy is getting me into the electric cars now. Will this ever end???

A hint on the electrics...if your doing it for fun buy the best Nicads you can but if your planning to race STAY AWAY from NICADS and go with NiMh's...Also get the best charger you can afford. If you have any questions or need any help or tips just shoot me an email. My email is linked through this site.
