Hi everyone

Hi there. My name is Michael and I am with the USAF staioned at RAF Lakenheath in the UK. I have been modelling for 20 or so years (kind of hard to pin down exactly when I started). I took a break for a while after I got married, but I am trying to get back into the swing of it. I mostly work 1/48 military aircraft and 1/35 modern armor, but I may switch to 1/72 a/c since I am running out of shelf space. My biggest challenge now is learning how to weather properly. Any tips would be great. I am startin to figure out washes and pastel chalks, but the results are less than ideal. Cheers.

You and I are in the same "boat" so to speak. I jsut became a member today as well. Nice of you to reply. I was just up in Edinburgh this summer. Got there right before the Fringe started. Good mate of mine in the MoD hails from Glasgow. What's your latest project? I'm finishing a Marder 1A2 as well as an Israeli F-16D. Might do an F-15E with Lakenheath markings next. Hobby shop here on the base actually has decal sets for the local jets.

Welcome to our friendly little community! I made the switch to 1/72 scale about a year ago from 1/48 and I'm glad I did! I've been going crazy buying anything I can get my hands on in 1/72: planes, armor, sci-fi, etc... I love to be able to make size comparisons and 1/72 makes it easy.

Best wishes,

Mark
