Greeting from an Ottawa FNG
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 16, 2003 8:54 PM
Hello all,

I thought it would be polite to introduce myself before I start pestering everyone with my newbie questions.

I'm a returning modeler located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I started scale modeling in University about 8 years ago. After a year of non-stop building, I took a little break. Now that I have a tad bit more time and money, I thought I'd get back into it.

I've modeled military aircraft from almost every era except WWI (WWII, Vietnam, Gulf War), modern ground warfare equipement (Humvees, M1A1) and a few ships (WWII battleships).

Since my return, I've just finished modeling a Spitfire Mk V but I'm strangely attracted to Soviet and German WWII armor at this point.

So that's pretty much me as a modeler in a nutshell. Here's my first question. Do you normally work on only one project at a time, or do you have more than one on the go?

Welcome to FSM Phemur. It's the lure of the dark side that's drawing you towards the armour side of the hobby. No use fighting it, resistance is futile.

I look forward to your posts in the Armour Forum
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

Hello Phemur, and welcome to those Forums. There's lots of fantastic people in here willing to share their interest and knowledge so do not hesitate asking questions and sharing your skills. And as to your first question, I for one always work on several models at the same time... I'm not very patient... and I always find new things that interest me... On my desk, just about to be completed is a Dassault Rafale, plus a Roman warship, a M50 Ontos, a M1 Abrams, a Ilyushin Il-76, a Hawker Hunter, a Leopard, a Panther, a Junkers G38, a Boeing 727, and a couple more that have for the moment disappeared under the pile of possible next projects such as P39 Airacobra, Me-163 Komet, SdKfz 233, X-15A-2 and a Leclerc MBT...

Mmmm... Did I mention the long-term stored projects..? Space Shuttle, Devastator, Embraer 120, Airbus A330, Airbus A340, Airbus A321, Airbus A319, Caravelle, Rafale A (1/48), Millenium falcon, IS-III, Pz II ausf.L, ...?

I know, I'm rather sick... Joining FSM has actually been the best cure in years. Now, I actually complete models! LOL

Welcome FNG. I keep 6-8 models going at a time. Keeps me from becoming bored and burned out.

Welcome to the forum, Phemur. I also like to keep more than one "iron in the fire." I usually do similar paint schemes at a time. Sure beats loading the airbrush one drop at a time !

Hey Phemur,
Welcome to our family!!! Believe me you'll learn a lot from these guysWink [;)].
BTW Dont listen to Shermanfreak about the "dark side" I think he just likes saying thatTongue [:P].
I basically build aircraft (WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf ect ect)w/ a few amor pieces to break up the monotonous.
I guess you could say I have been to the dark side(visiting rights) but my heart will alsways be w/ the a/c.
Flaps up, Mike

If you would listen to everybody about the inaccuracies, most of the kits on your shelf would not have been built Too Close For Guns, Switching To Finger
