Hello I am Fred Amos , 63 years old, of Hazelwood mo, a suburb of St..Louis. I've been a serious modeler for a little over thirty years. I build for the fun of it. Not for you, him or for contests. My field of interest is aircraft,1/144,1/72, 1/48 and some 1/32 scale. I dislike anybody in this hobby who gets so desparate to win that he will cheat or cause others grief. Yes, there are a few of those people out there.Well , enough for now. Don.t for get , It is onl;y a hobby, Enjoy it.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Fred, Im not quite as old you are but have been modelling for about the same time. Full agree with your statements, modelling is all about enjoyment and relaxation.

Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Fred,
Welcome aboard Fred. It`s nice to see you youngsters sign on.Smile [:)] I hit 75 last month. Been into airplane modeling of one type or another since 1936. I am completely in agreement with your modeling philosophy.. It`s strictly for my own enjoyment. I do not care to spend hours and dollars researching a model to see if it has the proper number of rivets, If the color is exactly right etc.
I am not throwing darts at the modelers who build highly detailed models. I enjoy looking at them very much. I guess I just no longer have the desire or patience to get into the high detail.

AMEN BROTHER! I think you'll find most everybody here is the same way. Besides modeling is the only thing that preserves my sanity lately.
