Hello from the Midwest
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 20, 2003 9:10 AM
I just wanted to say hello to everyone on this great forum.
I am just trying to get into building models again after a forced time away from building.
Going about doing some research, I came along this site and can't tell you how many tips I have learned in such a short time from reading all the posts.
Like I mentioned, life interupted my model building about year and half ago. But I now have the time and energy again to start building once more. I have been creating a work space over the last few weeks and am finishing my paint box now. It's been fun digging out all my supplies and sorting every thing.
I am not an overly experienced modeler though. I do enjoy immensely however.
My brother-in-law was a 'professional' modeler (built for magazines, shops, shows etc.) in Japan for a number of years. But he got burnt out building kits he didn't really want to build, so now he just builds (mostly Gundam kits, but also female anime characters, but his wife frowns on the female items ;-) for his own enjoyment. I must say he makes building look so effortless. Spending just 10 minutes watching him, I can learn so much. It is amazing. The best part is that I get most of his hand me down tools (that's how I got my airbrush - Olympos - and compressor!) and the such.
I personally build automobile kits. Mostly Japanese cars and F1kits.

Anyway, sorry for the long 'hello' :)

Welcome Aboard HRD. I have 1 or 2 F1 kits lying around that have gone un touched. I'd like to build them...maybe when it comes time for that you'll have some pointers. Enjoy!

thyamis - sorry for the delayed response.
I have the HP102B. It has a 0.3mm nozzle, gravity feed cup source, with trigger type activation.
I haven't got a clue whether it is 'good' or not but it suits my needs fine and works well. I would say it's downfall is larger areas and thicker paints.
hey, I got it from my brother-in-law, who was a 'professional' builder. It was his main brush for a long time. He probably has forgotten more about building scale models than I will ever know. So if it was good enough for him, it's more than enough for me :-)
