Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 26, 2003 12:58 PM
This message is coming from Brest / french western harbour ; an anecdote today : 2 US WW II bombs ( 500 Lbs & 1000 Lbs) have been defused : "souvenir" from the air raids against german submarines base here... I'm 41 old . I have been modeling since the age of 9, building mainly aircrafts from 40's to now.I have the chance to get Finescale Modeler magazine here in Brest : I think it's one of the best .Bye bye / Be indulgent for my english !!

Don't worry about you're English, I've been speaking it for 45 years and still manage to mess it up.

Hi My name is Butch. I model basicly 1/72 A/C but will do a Car or Boat if the mood gets me. I've been modeling for over 40 years and I still Have much to learn.. That is my favorite part of this hobby. Learning & sharing info. I am a History Buff and this hobby and History go well together. I also enjoy Fishing & Boating. My collection of unbuilt kits.. well if I live to 100 and did a kit a day untill then I would not dent my "collection" I am not a kit collector and Iam looking into thinning my collection out.. Maybe some day soon. I served aboard threeUS Navy Submarines and I am willing to share info with any Boat Modeler "Nuke" or "Smoke Boats". I praise God daily for the gift of imagination. I think this gift as well as being able to seperate it from the real world have kept me young and always excited about that New Release at our local hobby Shop.. Model on..

Well , if I'm modeling since a long time, I stay a novice with my computer !! I feel very happy to get many welcome 's messages, including your's. I give you some more info on myself : I'm working as a safety officer in Brest shipyard and work usually on tankers / LNG ships at repairing .When it's possible for me I go for fishing ; while i was in Africa, i was use to go at sea for fishing more often than here in France. Brest is also a military place for the French Navy and specifically for nuclear submarines . My favourite scale for modeling aircraft is 1/48. Actually , I'm constructing a F100D (one of my favourite aircrafts) in 1/72 (1/48 monogram not available easily here)But I hope that in the future I will get the time to build a modeling project different : a big game fishing model ship ( probably a scratch one) with a diorama.Next to read you Butch !
