Stikpusher,

Squadron and Great Models were great for me also when I was in Kosovo. I had ordered a bunch of 1/72 scale armor and had the items in about 8 days. It is nice to know that some of the online shops are willing to ship to military addresses.

Modeleing on Deployment
Posted by stikpusher on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 2:13 PM

I have recently returned from an overseas deployment to the Balkans. Being in a small element we did not have any model club or much support from the local PX for my favorite pastime. What we did have was a few modelers who had to figure it out on their own. But I must give kudos to Squadron Shop and Great Models Webstore whose online ordering system was GI fiendly and would accept APO shipping addresses (many other sites did not to my frustration). Between those stores, my wife and my local hobby stores, and E-bay, I was able to keep up with my building while over there. In the end I ended up building several kits and having them displayed in the coffee shop on our base. I ended up passing on several unbuilt kits and my supplies to the unit that relieved mine. Remeber folks, we have a lot more troops out there than what you see on the headlines in many forgotten places.  So please find out who else needs support and take care of them too!

A few of the kits I built are here...
