Bids for the 2011 convention will be presented & awarded next week in Columbus. The event is scheduled to occur in the eastern-third of the country, based on the east-middle-west progression. Last year Virginia Beach (east), this year Columbus (middle), next year Phoenix (west). I have not heard who is bidding.
Indiana [or Chicago - Firesmacker] qualifies as middle. If you want it to come to your home town YOU need to begin working on the bid preparation right away (location, lodging, events, cost, etc) so that your organization can make the bid presentation next year in Phoenix for 2012. When we bid for the 2000 convention held in Dallas we had been working on the presentation for a year before we presented & were awarded in 1998.
Any BTW Firesmacker - the Nats were last held in Chicago (Rosemont Center) in 2001. The east/mid/west progression failed in `99 when no chapters in the west prepared a bid and Chicago was asked to bid to fill the void.
