The TigerCon Scale Model Contest & Vendor Fair, the premier scale model competition in mid-Missouri, is back Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo.

In a world obsessed with screens, TigerCon celebrates hobbyists who labor with their hands and create intricate model cars, planes, ships and more from manufactured kits and sometimes from scratch.

The contest features 25 categories, including “Best in Aircraft,” “Best in Military” and “Best in Automotive,” with the best models winning  “Best of Show” and “People’s Choice.”

There will also be a new prize for 2023, the inaugural Truman Award, which will go to the winner of a group build. Each year.

This year’s TigerCon will also include a “Make-N-Take” activity for kids ages 8-14 where they can learn to build a scale model on site free of charge and take it home.

This sounds like a fantastic event celebrating the craftsmanship and dedication of scale model hobbyists. It's great to see a competition that values the art of creating intricate models by hand.
