So here is my video from this year's SCGMC.
Thanks Ranger Chris for posting that.
Maybe one day I'll make it to SCGMC. The build quality in the Gunpla contest circuit is becoming quite competitive. Ten years ago, the "scale only" guys would walk by the Gunpla entries and just chuckle and snicker at the unpainted models. I think the armor community is largely responsible for moving Gunpla finishing to where it is today.
Ah, but next year's theme is "Gundam Seed". I'll have to give it a hard pass!
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Oh yeah, the level of competition keeps going up every year. Also the theme for next year is not Gundam Seed, it is Seed. Interprit as you will.....
I dunno Ranger Chris, there is only one Seed in Gundam...
I'm just a non-UC Ha8ter. I can't help myself.
For us uninitiated folks, what does the acronym "SCGMC" stand for?
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Baron,
it stands for the Southern California Gundam Model Competition.
Real G Baron, it stands for the Southern California Gundam Model Competition.
We need a "Big MaK USA" annual contest. MaK was the (SF3D) Original Japanese sci-fi kit line to embrace armor weathering techniques. So it could be said to have been the forefather of modern anime kit finishing.
Multi-material kits, super cool, boutique packaging (the faux kraft paper box was so~ chic), heavy greeblie designs, and an almost un-Japanese avoidance of preposterous anime "missile party" armament. Gosh, MaK was SO ahead of its time!
