IPMS Nationals 2007
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, March 10, 2006 8:57 PM
Hello, ALL. The 2007 IPMS National Convention will be held in Anaheim, Ca. August 22-25, 2007. You can bet your next paycheck I'll be entering and attending. It's just down the freeway from me (about 18-20 miles). I've already got one project completed, and between 5 to 11 more to go. This will be a HOOT!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Mike. Two fellow members( Doug Karr and Carol Simpson) of the association I'm with are volunteer U.S.C.G. Search and Rescue pilots from the Bay Area. They use a 1955 Bell 47 G-2 (N2473B) based at the Hayward Air Terminal (KHWD). Hope to see you at the Anaheim '07 Nats.                               Semper Fi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!               Daniel

Thanks Daniel.
My wife works right behind the ANG building down the street.
That used to be a Marine hanger but it was changed to an ANG one several years ago.

Oooh Rah! Wink [;)]

Dan, speaking as a member of the IPMS Orange County club that is hosting the Nationals in Anaheim, I am looking forward to meeting you. I will be working that whole event and have already told my wife that I am NOT coming home during those four days! In fact, the joke around the club is that I will be bringing 100 models to the event myself due to my proliferic building. Hmmmm... Maybe I can.......

Not yet. A few ideas are still being kicked around. I know one will be somethjing to do with California, such as "best California Subject": something built or invented in California, but things haven't been finalized as of yet. I'll keep everyone posted as much as possible.

Good idea! Check out everything to do with the history of the area and something will surely suggest itself. Good luck, and I can't wait to meet you there!

Would I be correct in assuming that it will held at the aneheim convention center? You spoke of family packs to the park, are these through the event or a package deal offered later on? I'm already trying to book for the event. My wife insists.

Thanks

Well for local entertainment there is Disneyland and California adventure. Both are great for the Family. Also, not sure how big of a Baseball fan you are but The Aneheim Angels are in the same area, it's possible that they may have a game that week. Also, you will be vary close to the famous southern california beaches!

Duke, hopefully I will get to a competition down there before Nats to meet up!

Actually, it is at the Anaheim Marriot Hotel directly acress from Disney. We even have a considerable number of roomhours reserved for that weekend. The discount tickets are part fo the deal with your admission to the event. We will also be featuring tours to many local museums as well such as Yanks, Planes of Fame, The Peterson Automotive Museum among others. Some more discounted tickets may be available for Knott's Berry Farm as well; that is still being worked on. I'll let you all know more as I learn it.

I'll make it there. I wouldn't mind some tips on where to go and stay.

I have heard that Hooters is a good place for burgers.

Hey Brews! It all depends on your budget on where to stay. If you have enough, you can even stay at the Anaheim Marriott itself so there is no transport necessary to get to the event, (except your own two feet! LOL!) If not, there are several nearby local places that are quite affordable and right next to public transportation nodes that will take you to the event.

We have a webpage up now for anyone to check out:

http://www.ipmsusa2007.org/

As for places with good burgers, one better place than Hooters is Fuddrucker's. Hooters is only famous for their wings, among other things....

Awesome Espins. When you register for this event, you'll be able to take a free bus tour to two of the premier aircraft museums in Southern California: Yanks Air Museum and Chino Planes of Fame Museum. It's all part of the package and we also supply the transportation to these museums. Looking forward to seeing you there.

We finally got 2 In-n-Out burgers in Reno (well, one in Sparks, one in Reno).  It's awesome.

Before that the closest one was in Auburn, just outside of Sacramento, so we're talking about an hour and 40 minute drive from us.  We always made it a point to stop there though whenever we went to visit friends and family in Sacramento or the Bay Area.

hmmm... I may have to go to In-n-Out for lunch today, it's only 5 minutes from my work.  Burger [BG]

Wow!  IPMS Nationals in Anaheim?!?  I'm definitely going!!  I may even be living in SoCal by then.  Been to the Hooters in Santa Monica and Long Beach, but not in O.C.!  Guess I'll have to go for a SoCal Hooter trifecta!   Hope to see all of you there!!

Man, I wish I could make it. There's a slew of people I'd like to meet! I'm going to the Vancouver BC Show for sure this year, but that will be the extent of my modeling travels.

So long folks!
