Yep, VA Beach it is.  They held the Region 2 Convention at the venue this year and I was able to make the trip down.  I must say, I was pretty impressed.  Its a brand new convention center.  The room they held it in was a pretty good size, but there was a collapsable wall between that room and the next one so it could make it twice as big.

Is there a list as to where the locations will be in the next few years?

The 2008 Va Beach Nats were just awarded this summer at the Nats in Kansas City.   The bids for 2009 will be heard at the 2007 convention in Orange California.   2009 should be in the Central US.  The 2010 bids will be heard in 2008.   2010 should be in the Western US.   The schedule works two years in advance.    The plan is East/Central/West/East ...

When I worked on the 2000 convention in Dallas, we started a year before the bid was due,  arranging the hotel and convention site.    It is a three year committment to put on the show.

Of course they are set!  Its all part of the prepared bid package.  Deposits with the venue were made last year when the site was awarded.

The 2008 IPMS USA convention will be August 6 thru 9, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center

The Dragon Expo will be held at the same time.  Here's some info I posted on one of the 1/6 forums:

30 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation  and right next to the beach!!!

Hopefully they'll get the word out to all the military around here and those who reenact so they can have some good displays and vehicles.

The hotels are expensive at the beach this time of year, but there's plenty of them (and probably booked up from all the tourists), but there's plenty more within 30 minutes drive (even downtown Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Chesapeake near where the Joe convention was a few years ago) and easy to navigate.

Oh yeah...the traffic is the pits around here.

Also close by (within 1-1/2 to 2 hrs):

Yorktown
Jamestown
Busch Gardens/Water Country USA
Virginia War Museum in Newport News
Battleship Wisconsin and National Maritime Center Nauticus in Norfolk
Mariner's Museum in Newport News
Petersburg Civil War battlefield
Richmond Museum of the Confederacy
Children's Museum and VA. Sports Hall of Fame in Portsmouth
MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk
Southern Gun Works in Suffolk (museum/store)
Virgina Aquarium and Marine Science Center in VA. Beach
Fort Eustis Army Transportation Museum
