FSM at the Nationals
Posted by Aaron Skinner on Thursday, July 24, 2008 9:04 AM

Hey guys,

Wanted to let you all know that Matt Usher, Mark Hembree, and I will be at the IPMS Nationals in Virginia Beach. We'll be taking photos of your models at our booth in the contest room. Look for the banner, come by and say hello. And if you've got a model on the tables, check to see if we put a card on it to be shot.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Cheers,

Sadly, no. Have to fly in from Maine - I looked into ways that I could pack something (in a carry-on, maybe?) but didn't come up with anything that would give me a good chance of bringing a build with me that would be intact. Boohoo [BH]

Don't think I have anything nationals-quality quite yet anyway. Wink [;)] Hopefully I can drive to my next Nationals when it comes back to the east coast! Thumbs Up [tup]

I carried a model in a Rubbermaid container on the plane to Anaheim last year. It fit under the seat in front of me. The best part was on the shuttle to the hotel I sat next to a woman. She took one look at the box I was nursing on my lap and started backing away asking me what kind of animal I had in the box.Big Smile [:D]

Interesting. Did you just put a lot of foam or something around the model? They didn't give you any trouble about keeping it upright going through the security screening or anything? Black Eye [B)]

Perhaps I need to do some further research at home. Wink [;)]

It was a squat armor model. I had it on a bed of foam with toothpicks to hold it in position and the box sat flat on the belt through security. They didn't even ask me to open it up.

I won't say I wasn't nervous, but it made the trip from Milwaukee to Anaheim and back without a problem. Didn't win anything, but it was worth it for the experience.

Cheers,

That was the nice thing about this Nationals location; I live 40 miles to the north and was able to drive and tote the goodies without any prolems.
